Abstract
Implant placement in the pterygoid region is a reliable treatment for posterior maxillary
tooth loss. However, the surgery is not widely applied because the implant placement
region is hard to access and the direct visual access is limited. This clinical report
describes the use of a dynamic navigation system to improve the pterygoid implant
placement surgery. Real-time imaging of the surgery area and full-time guidance are
provided by the system to alleviate the problem of lack of visibility and to reduce
the complexity of placement.
