In traditional dental implant therapy, the time between implant placement and delivery of the definitive prosthesis can be long and uncomfortable for a patient wearing a conventional removable denture on an atrophied ridge. New clinical protocols, often with tilted implants, are being used to immediately restore mandibular implants with interim restorations, thus shortening the patient's return to function. However, these conversion type interim restorations do not decrease the time to definitive prosthetic rehabilitation.
