Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has been increasingly used as a framework material in prosthetic dentistry. However, data on the marginal and internal fit of PEEK restorations fabricated by using either the computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) or heat-pressing technique are sparse.

During the trial placement of zirconia restorations, contamination of the bonding surface is inevitable. Although cleaning methods for contaminated surfaces have been described, a method of preventing saliva contamination of the bonding surface of zirconia restorations is lacking.

High-performance polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has been used in dentistry because of its excellent physical and chemical properties. However, its lack of translucency requires the use of a veneering composite resin for esthetic applications. Data on bonding a veneering composite resin to PEEK are still scarce.

Various strategies have been proposed to reduce the cement space of foundation restorations for endodontically treated teeth. However, they may add more operative steps, or the dentist must keep different sizes of drills and posts in stock. A 2-piece universal adjustable post system has been developed to overcome this problem, but whether the system has acceptable fatigue survival performance is unclear.

Prefabricated dowels do not always provide intraradicular sealing in the root canal dentin, and the lack of sealing predisposes the dowel to adhesive failure and debonding. It is unclear if fiber-reinforced composite resin dowels provide better sealing.

Restorations with knife-edge margins are more prone to margin chipping during the manufacturing process. Three-dimensional gel deposition shows potential for fabricating zirconia restorations with good margin quality, but studies on its performance in fabricating knife-edged crowns are lacking.

The cantilevered resin-bonded fixed dental prosthesis (RBFDP) is a feasible and minimally invasive treatment option to restore a single missing tooth, especially when the missing tooth space is small (<7 mm) and cost-effectiveness is essential. However, its long-term survival needs to be improved by increasing its structural strength and interfacial adhesion.

In endodontically treated maxillary first molars, post space preparations in the palatal roots can compromise the residual dentin thickness (RDT) and increase the risk of perforations or root fractures. This can be attributed to the direction of the buccopalatal curvature that cannot be viewed with conventional 2D imaging.

Polyaryletherketones (PAEKs) are high-performance polymer materials in which polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) are the most used. Although mechanical and shear bonding strength tests have been performed on the 2 materials, studies on the influence of processing on bonding are scarce.
